[Ellen DeGeneres (born January 26, 1958)]
And you have a new boyfriend?
[Christina María Aguilera (born December 18, 1980)]
Ah, ha, ha, I didn’t know you are gonna ask about that.
[Ellen DeGeneres]
Well I’m not asking, I’m just telling you, in case you don’t know.
[Christina Aguilera]
(laughs) Thanks I’ll try to remember.
[Ellen DeGeneres]
You don’t have to respond, but you have a new boyfriend.
[Christina Aguilera]
There’s – there’s someone very lovely in my life. Yes.
[Ellen DeGeneres]
Good
[Christina Aguilera]
But ah, you know
[Ellen DeGeneres]
Well, that’s all that matters is that your happy and you know, its hard.
[Christina Aguilera]
Ya
[Ellen DeGeneres]
Divorce is hard
[Christina Aguilera]
It is definitely hard.
[Ellen DeGeneres]
You deserve to have fun and date and stuff
[Christina Aguilera]
Absolutely
[Ellen DeGeneres]
Don’t you?
[Christina Aguilera]
Yes
[Ellen DeGeneres]
Ya, so, here’s – here’s what I wanna say – I for the – I just recently got into
football the Super Bowl was huge cause last year the Super Bowl was huge cause
The Saints won, and this year I was for The Packers. I was all excited and then
I saw you sing and – and then I heard
[Christina Aguilera]
Oh, that’s right I did sing The Super Bowl.
[Ellen DeGeneres]
I literally – but I saw it, but I didn’t’ see anything, and then it was this
huge – and then I felt stupid that maybe I didn’t know the lyrics because then I
thought why I didn’t I see any…
[Christina Aguilera]
You know I’ve been singing that song my entire life, I was known as the youngest
Anthem singer in my home town Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
[Ellen DeGeneres]
How old were you?
[Christina Aguilera]
I sang for the Steelers as you know when I was this big, maybe, I think the age
of seven or eight, you know, and ah, you know I would sing for them, and I think
I had a moment, where I was at the Super Bowl
[Ellen DeGeneres]
Yup
[Christina Aguilera]
At 30 years old and you know, I was just, I took in the moment a little bit too
much – I – I – I, shot me for appreciating the moment, it’s like, here I am at
the Super Bowl singing for a team in front of, you know, the world, and
remembering what it was like to be that young and look where I made it now. And
then it’s like, I knew, OHHH! That night, I knew, I was like, I just made myself
a Trivial Pursuit question. In 2011 what female singer, you know, flubbed the
lyrics , it it, it’s just insane, but, I have a really good laugh about it, and
you know, you get over things and you know, you, you, you get back up again, you
just proved to yourself and everyone that your, that your that much stronger.
[Ellen DeGeneres]
Absolutely, first of all, you sang at the Super Bowl, I mean, I can’t – I can’t
imagine a more nerve racking, you know, I know you’ve done a lot in your career
and your voice is so amazing.
[Christina Aguilera]
Thank you
[Ellen DeGeneres]
And that’s what I heard. I – you know
[Christina Aguilera]
I knew nobody would care about – the press wouldn’t anyway.
[Ellen DeGeneres]
Ya
[Christina Aguilera]
But thank you so much
[Ellen DeGeneres]
That’s all I heard – that’s all I heard, an amazing voice
